Frequently Asked Questions
More information about therapy, our costs, and ensuring confidentiality.
Therapy
Will therapy work for me?
Just as with everything else in life, the commitment and desire you have to better yourself and your life will be key. The more committed you are to showing up to therapy and implementing the methods you learned into your life, the more likely you will be to create the transformation and healing you seek.
Is therapy necessary? Can I just talk to a friend?
Friends can give great advice but going to therapy offers you to hear from a professional. Therapists are objective and have your best interest in mind. We are here to improve your quality of life by acting as guide.
What happens in an initial therapy session?
Our initial therapy session will be an assessment in which we will gather your history, explore your struggles, and establish your treatment goals.
How will I feel after therapy?
How you feel when you finish therapy will depend on your specific goals. Most clients feel more self-aware, relieved, and confident. Our hope is that you will feel capable of handling whatever life throws at you with the tools we have equipped you with during your time with us.
Confidentiality
Is virtual therapy secure?
Of course! We use a secure video calling software that requires a password to enter. Passwords are only shared with you. Any resources used in the therapy are shared privately.
Not tech savvy? No problem. We'll help you test your set up before we start a session. We also offer phone sessions if you prefer.
Will what I say in a session remain confidential?
Yes! Everything we talk about will stay confidential between you and your therapist. As per our college regulations, the only reason we would need to break confidentiality is if:
-
You disclose that a child or vulnerable adult is being subjected to abuse or neglect
-
You disclose an immediate intention to end your life or the life of another person
-
Your involvement in a legal matter and the court subpoenas your file
